(100th anniversary of the battle at Vimy Ridge)

This July 1st celebration will also honour our military heritage, our veterans and military families who have stood patriotically to defend our values and security. 

Success at Vimy Ridge is widely referred to as the “birth of a Nation” and was a defining moment which secured Canada’s place in the world.

Regiments from coast to coast saw action together in a distinctly Canadian triumph, helping create a new and stronger sense of Canadian identity in our country.

Canada’s military achievements during the war raised our international stature and helped earn us a separate signature on the Treaty of Versailles that ended the First World War.
